Sitting between Monterey and Santa Cruz (and really a south extension of Santa Cruz) is the town of Capitola. It's a resort community, known for its begonia gardens. The city celebrates a Begonia Festival in early September each year. |
One of the better known gardens in the area is the Antonelli Brothers Gardens. In their greenhouse you can view many different types of begonias; most available for purchase. |
The thing that surprised me the most was the wide variety of begonia types. I did not think there were that many. |
While we're on the subject of flowers, Santa Cruz hosts the University of California at Santa Cruz Arboretum...
