Santa Cruz

Location map

Just up the coast from Monterey and at the north end of Monterey Bay sits Santa Cruz. It is the center of a number of interesting activities. (Hint: If you don't mind a 10 minute commute to a motel consider staying in Scotts Valley, 10 miles inland. Prices are much better and since it's up the hill a bit you can often get out of summer fog.)

A popular tourist location in Santa Cruz is the Boardwalk. It's quite busy and just getting to the parking lot can be a challenge; but if you like rides and games this is the place to be. They even have an indoor miniature golf course that has holes on two stories.

Being a fan of dragons I had to have a picture of this ride.

Around the Santa Cruz area you'll also find begonia gardens, an arboretum run by the University of California at Santa Cruz, and the very popular Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad.

We'll start a little South of Santa Cruz at the begonia gardens...
